Life dangles by a thread, nurtured in the trash ...

A plant struggles for life in an empty cola tin. How poignant. How very poignant.
We want change
by Pressureworks, published 4 January, 2006
Nearly three billion people go without the basic things we believe everybody has a right to - decent food and clean water, shelter, healthcare and education. This means that day in, day out, half the people of the world are struggling to survive, let alone lead fulfilling lives.
This is wrong. Full stop. We believe it can be put right. Full stop.

And we're going to do all we can to make it happen.
But where do we begin?
We believe in finding and challenging the root causes of people's poverty, and pushing for changes that will tackle them.
Day in, day out, half the people of the world are struggling to survive
This means focusing on big international problems that individual aid and development projects don't address - important 'policy' issues in the hands of world leaders, like the unfair rules and regulations that control world trade.

We call issues like these 'the structural causes of poverty'. They are the basic, underlying reasons why so many people are being cheated, and left on and below the breadline.

Campaigning is the only really effective way to deal with them.
