President for a day
by Pressureworks, published 22 November, 2006
Sixth form students across the UK are taking part in a game which allows students to run the fictional African country of Mobesi - based on Zambia. With this comes the reponsibility of running  the country’s finances; economic growth or civil unrest  is determined by your decisions alone.
You can find out more about the game and how to take part by visiting the Damaris website.
Already been the President for a day?
Want to do something for real? We’ve set up an exclusive fund for donations for our HIV work in Zambia (the country that Mobesi is based on) and we need YOU to hold a fundraiser.

There really are no rules when it comes to fundraising (the more entertaining the better.)

From prize bingo to ballroom dancing to a bungee jump, it’s your call.

Here are a few ideas:
  • Hold a collection or make and sell red HIV ribbons.
  • Show business – a concert, a talent contest or a fashion show – charge entry for the privilege of watching your mates perform.
  • Hold a masked ball and sell tickets.
  • Sponsored events – Organise you own or let us organise one for you.
For information on our fundraising events click here or to tell us about an event you’re holding email

Empty promises: funding HIV prevention, treatment and care Global targets to tackle HIV have been missed, and the level of funding is little over half what is needed. While HIV continues to kill 8,000 people a day, Christian Aid calls on governments and other donors to contribute their fair share.
