Marchers walk the final mile in London
They did it!
by Pressureworks, published 11 October, 2007
The Cut the Carbon marchers finished their historic march October 2. Thousands of campaigners joined them for the final mile. The march has ended but the campaign continues. Find out what happened and what you can do.
Thank you
After 80 days and 1,000 miles, the 18 marchers from rich and poor countries were joined by thousands of campaigners for the final mile from London's City Hall to St Paul's Cathedral for a rally. A service was held at St Paul's cathedral to celebrate the achievement of the marchers and all those who have helped to make the march possible along the way. It was an unforgettable day - thank you to everyone who came along and was part of it.

What you can do
The campaign continues. Parliament is debating the Climate Change Bill, which aims for a 60% cut in UK carbon emissions by 2050. This is not enough. We need drastic action if we're to avoid catastrophe for poor countries. We need at least an 80% reduction.

Please contact your MP now to ensure they back a tougher bill.

What is it?
The Cut the Carbon march started in Northern Ireland on 14 July and ended in London on 2 October. The march raised awareness all over the UK and Ireland that climate change is not just a future problem, it is a current crisis for millions of poor people.
Keep up with the progress of the march
