Why in the UK?
by Pressureworks, published 18 October, 2007
You might wonder why most of your work will be done in the UK. The answer is simple: this is where your efforts are most needed.
Most of Christian Aid's work overseas is done through local organisations. That’s why our gap year scheme is UK-based: the partners we support have got it covered.
Why the UK?
Our gap years are here in the UK because that’s where we need the most support. The British government supports trade rules that keep millions in poverty. Our companies sell arms used in countless conflicts, our shops sell sweatshop products. So we need to organise right here at home.

Thousands of young people would get more involved in challenging this injustice if they knew how to do it, and if they could see that it would make a difference. With our help, you can show them how to get started.
