Decisions, decisions...
Pressurepoints combines your passions of having an excellent student life and giving your fellow students the chance to act on injustice.
You know that poverty makes you angry. You want to take action and change the injustice you’ve been exposed to. You also know that you’re a student and want to have a good time and be meeting new people.
Campaigning as a part-time job
The Pressurepoints scheme’s brilliance is that it combines your passions of having an excellent student life and giving your fellow students the chance to act on injustice. And instead of giving you a mark, we’ll give you a paycheque.
Invaluable experience
Plus, if you haven’t already heard, in the post-student world, employers eat up experience. If you can show them you’ve got what it takes to plan and execute a successful event, combined with a firm handshake, it’s like you’ve sealed the deal already!
What projects are out there?
Well, you probably know your campus better than we do, and most likely have a better gauge of what events are ripe for the proverbial picking.
‘Check out our projects in this section and feel free to nick one as-is; or use them for inspiration to create your own.’
Take a moment to drink in your surroundings and think, ‘What could be done here?’ Also think about what you would be excited to do. Projects need vision in order to be seen through. We’ve got some ace ideas that have gone down well in the past. Check out our projects in this section and feel free to nick one as-is; or use them for inspiration to create your own.
The basics
Whatever you choose, make sure you have a clear, achievable goal that challenges the scandal of poverty.
‘Make sure that the event gets a lot of students involved and raises awareness of Christian Aid’s work, especially in one of our priority areas: trade justice, HIV/AIDS, and climate change.'
Bear in mind your target as well as your audience as you progress with your seedling project idea. Make sure that the event gets a lot of students involved and raises awareness of Christian Aid’s work, especially in one of our areas of work: trade justice, HIV/AIDS, and climate change. Be sure that the event is empowering and gives participants the outlet to respond—there’s nothing worse than seeing a need and feeling like your hands are tied. You know the truth: our hands are poised and powerful to dismantle systems of poverty. Sometimes we just need a bit of a prompt.
Make your move
If you haven’t already, go through our projects, chat with some friends, poll random people on the street, and basically get inspired. Find a vision and then think through how it could actually take shape.
